Rules

All drivers must be at least 16 years of age with a valid drivers license.

All machines must have a current Iowa DNR Registration.

(both sticker and paper receipt required)

All machines must have proof of insurance.

Vehicles allowed to participate:

Side By Sides - ORV's
ALL Terrain Vehicles - ATV's
Dirt Bikes - On or Off Highway

Riding double is prohibited on all ATV's and motorcycles

(except on ATV's that are designed by the original manufacturer to carry a passenger)

Helmets are required for all riders!

(and passenger if passenger is permitted)

All riders must wear full length pants and closed toe shoes

No shorts and no sandals

Speed Limit - 35 mph Strictly Enforced!

No riding more than 2 machines wide at any time!

Keep to the far right when going up hill and use extreme caution when cresting hills!

Absolutely no riding in the ditches!

Sound Limits will be enforced.

(Machines may not exceed an engine noise limit above 96 decibels as tested un SAE J1287.)

Everyone must be back at the fairgrounds by 8:00pm.

All machines must be in good working order and able to handle a 83 mile ride.

(including but not limited to Headlamp, Tail Lamp, Brakes, and Muffler)

All participants must wear the provided event T-shirt at all times while on the poker run route.

(T-shirt is included in the participation fee and can be picked up during registration)

EVERYONE MUST STAY ON THE DESIGNATED ROUTE!

CARELESS, RECKLESS, OR NEGLIGENT OPERATION IS PROHIBITED!

Event Sponsors

This is a one day event for participants only! Anyone not participating in the event, caught riding on the roads will be ticketed.

Operation of an ATV on public roads and highways is only allowed if:

The operator is using a designated trail signed and approved by a county board of supervisors.
Use is for a valid agricultural purpose and is between the hours of sunrise and sunset, the operator has a valid driver�s license, and speeds are under 35 miles per hour.
A land owner, or the land owner�s family, may operate in the ditch area that is adjacent and contigous to their property.
Use of the ATV is for the purpose of surveying and is being used by a licensed engineer or land surveyor.
Use of the ATV is for the purpose of construction or maintenance on or adjacent to the highway by an employee or agent of a political subdivision or public utility.
Use of the ATV if for the purpose of providing emergency services or rescue by an employee or agent of a public agency.
Use of the ATV is to mow, install signs, or provide maintenance on a DNR-desginated snowmobile or ATV trail.

Tread Lightly!

By practicing the Tread Lightly! principles you not only protect the outdoors, you also protect access to recreation opporunities for years to come.

Travel Responsibly on trails or in permitted areas. Don�t blaze a new trail or cut across switchbacks. Respect closed gates and regulatory signs. Stay out of designated wilderness areas. Drive over and not around obstacles to avoid widening the trail.
Respect the rights of others, including private property owners, to allow them to enjoy their recreational activities undisturbed.
Educate yourself by obtaining maps and regulations from public agencies, planning for your trip, taking recreational skills classes, and knowing how to use and operate your equipment safely.
Avoid sensitve areas such as meadows, wetlands, and streams, unless on designated routes. This protects wildlife habitat and sensitive soils from damage. Prevent fi res by equipping your ATV with a spark arrestor. Keep engine noise to a minimum. Avoid riparian areas, the green strips of vegetation along rivers and lakes. Cross soft or muddy areas slowly to avoid spinning your wheels.
Do your part by leaving the area better than you found it. Dispose of waste properly � pack out what you pack in. Stay off soft, wet trails that are easliy damaged by vehicles. Avoid creating dust. Cross streams only at designated crossings.
